ABA Data Analysis
The assessment (ABA) contributes to comparing students’ internal and external scores and identifying their level of attainment and progress, this helps the school community; school leaders, HODs, and teachers as well.
In the graph (1), we have three different cases.
- If a student is performing better in internal assessment (as Student 1) – is that because the test was too easy, and the teacher needs to review that? That’s when you start to look at the historical data to see whether their ABA or internal data has changed over time – and that leads to a clear decision basis on what’s happening with that student.”
- if the student isn’t attaining where they should be. So, if the data shows lower percentiles for SAS and internal assessment, compared to ABA (as Students 2), then we would highlight that, discuss it in teacher sessions and create an action plan. In addition to we should work with heads of department, teachers and with our achievement group (SEN) support teachers, we would help develop the student’s knowledge within that area of the curriculum.
- When the ABA, SAS and internal scores are all aligned, this shows that attainment is fully in line with ability and skills comparing the ABA with SAS (Standard Age Score) for Reading and our own internal Arabic/Islamic assessments, student 3’s scores are very nearly aligned, showing their performance and ability are in line with expectations.”
